QCQ is short for “Quotation-Comment-Question.” It begins with a Quotation of 1-3 sentences. It then has a Comment. And it then asks a Question that encourages engagement from others. A good QCQ gives you something to bring to the table and offers something worth discussing in class. Earn full credit (1000 points) for a QCQ that touches all 3 bases – and is in on time.

“Young and old around the world are re-creating the culture industry, or at least adding a wrinkle to it, by having fun together.”

Social media has given people of all ages a shared community to display their individual interests through their profiles. My favorite thing about the older portion of the social media community is how hilarious they can be on social media. Some accounts on TikTok are made viral from one’s parents and what they say on camera. Social media has given parents and children the opportunity to bond over video creation that has given them things in life only social media can do. For example, I follow an account on TikTok that is run by a girl in high school that films her dad doing funny things like go joking around with his wife, his daughter, or about himself getting back in the gym. One of the most popular viral videos of her dad are those that he is cheering on the 49ers. The video became so popular that the NFL, 49ers, and other teams started commenting on the video and the 49ers even reached out and gave the whole family box seats at the next game! On the flip side of this positivity, I feel that adults and older people think social media can be a waste of time and a nuisance to their children’s lives. It’s not uncommon for an older person to say things like “he/she is always on that phone all day” or “that thing will rot your brain” and I believe both of those quotes can be true, but this is how society is changing. Social media for many has become a way of communication, and a way of daily life. Most people begin their day by checking social media as soon as they wake up and end their day with it as well scrolling in bed.

Question
